Today's question: Which one of the characters from the book do you most resemble. I am sure that there will be instances where you act like each of the characters. However, perhaps there is one that you revert to most of the time. Give some examples.
I think I resemble one of the mice because I usually try to keep thinks simple and I try not to overthink. I usually follow my instincts although sometimes I do act like the Littlepeople. I think everyone has both of those sides to themselves, some stronger than the other.

Future Plans
12/10 What is it that you really want out of life, a successful career, relationship, friends a pet? Be descriptive in your response the more details you give the better.
In the future, I hope to have a career that I love, hopefully using accounting or economics, and the opportunity to travel while I'm still young. Later on, I want to have a family and work but still have enough time at home to raise my kids. I also want to have a cavalier king charles spaniel, my favorite dog since I was little. I hope to keep in touch with my friends from school and stay close with my whole family. I don't want to live on Long Island but I hope I find somewhere I'll be happier and not too far from my friends and family.

Holiday Traditions
12/9 Holidays are upon us what special family traditions do you and your family do? Give details about the tradition and why it is special to you.
Usually on Christmas Eve, we celebrate at my dad's parents house and exchange gifts with that side of the family. That night when we go home, my parents always give my siblings and I new pajamas and new ornaments to put on the tree. The next morning, we open gifts under the tree and my dad videotapes everything. Then my mom's side of the family comes to our house to celebrate. My mom and my brother always cook and I always bake dessert.

12/6 Nelson Mandela passed away yesterday at the age of 95. What did you know about him, his life and his impact on society?

Business Olympics

My last business olympics was a good experience. West did much better this year than last year since there were more west groups in the final round. I thought the winning group was really good and deserved it.

Business Olympics
JQ 11/19 Business Olympics is this Wednesday. What is your fondest memory of Business Olympics? How can you improve it. For those of you that have not done Business Olympics. What is the most influential event of your high school career.
My fondest memory of Business Olympics is when I worked on the Smart Notebook with Matt, John, Kate, and Alex. We worked really hard and had a lot of fun with it. I think it brought us really close together and we were upset when we didn't make finals. I can improve it by working even harder and making it to finals.

My best skill in school is definitely test taking because I don't get stressed out and I usually do better on tests than projects or essays. I probably have good test taking skills because I like to read a lot. My favorite things about fall are the changing leaves and all the fall food and drinks. I love baking pumpkin bread and getting fall drinks from Starbucks. My mom always makes delicious soup and quinoa. I hate the cold weather but I love everything else about fall.

End of First Quarter
JQ 11/4 If you are writing this post you were here on Friday. The end of the first quarter of your senior year is this Friday, November 8th. What is the one thing you will miss the most about Smithtown West, your friends, family and community.
It's hard to believe that I only have three quarters left of senior year and that I'll be leaving Smithtown before I know it. I've never been away from my family for more than a week at a time and I know I'm going to miss them even though they can get on my nerves. It's going to be a shock when I go to college barely knowing anyone and I'll really miss my friends that I've become so close with all these years. I've been going to school in the same town almost my entire life so this will be a huge change and I'm excited but it's definitely bittersweet.

Halloween
JQ 10/31 Happy Halloween. What is your first memory of Halloween? How old were you? What was your costume? What did you do ? Compare that to this year's Halloween festivities.
My first memory of Halloween was when I dressed up as a bunny and my brother dressed up as a dinosaur when I was around 4 years old. We went trick-or-treating with my family. This year, I'm an 80's rocker chick and I'm going to my friend's house after work.

Hurricane Sandy
JQ 10/29 It has been one year since Super Storm Sandy. What do you remember about the storm? What did you do while we were not in school? How long were you without power? etc
During the storm, everyone lost power and there were trees everywhere outside. It was dark, cold, and there was nowhere to go because there were trees in the road and gas was scarce. I only lost power for 24 hours but some of my friends lost power for 1 or 2 weeks. Although I had power, I still couldn't go anywhere for the 10 days we were out of school so I baked cookies and pumpkin bread and read a lot. A few of my friends came over to shower and watch TV since they were still without power for so long.

McDonalds
JQ 10/28. Breaking news McDonalds will no longer use Heinz ketchup. Is this a problem? Why are they no longer using Heinz ?
McDonalds is no longer using Heinz Ketchup because the former CEO of Burger King is now the CEO of Heinz. Some people might have a problem with it but I don't think that it will make a huge difference. It won't affect me because I don't eat McDonalds and I don't have a preference for a brand of ketchup anyway.

Safe Halloween
JQ 10/ 25 Safe Halloween is today at WEST. Are you participating in it today? , if so what club are you working with and what are you doing? Please also share if you participated in Safe Halloween as a child and what it meant to you then and now.
I participate in Safe Halloween every year with all the clubs I'm involved in. This year, I'm helping DECA set up for the bookmark making, photo shoot, and mummy wrap but I can't stay because I have to work tonight. I never attended Safe Halloween as a kid but I think it's a great experience and I love creating a fun night for the kids who attend.

My favorite genre of music is Indie because it can be upbeat or calm and I can listen to it any time of day. There's a wide variety from Mumford and Sons to Arctic Monkeys to alt-J, and I love finding new artists to listen to all the time. Two of my favorite songs at the moment are Breezeblocks by alt-J and Royals by Lorde.

Spirit week

Journal question: It's your senior year: What does "Spirit Week" mean to you? Did you participate everyday? Would you continue the traditions of Home Coming, and Pep Rally? How would you get everyone involved in "Spirit Week"?
Spirit week means showing off that you're proud to be a part of Smithtown. This year I participated every day and as much as I possibly could because it's my last year. I even wore feetie pajamas on pajama day. I would definitely continue the traditions of Homecoming and Pep Rally because it's the most exciting week of the year for many people. I think that most people in school participate because there's a lot of hype and people have fun dressing up for all the different themes.
